CHEF RAMAJ YOUNG
Business Description & History
I am Ramaj Young, a 25 year old Private Chef in Minneapolis. I began cooking as a child and have only ever wanted to be a chef. At 16 years old, I began my cooking career working at buffalo wild wings. When I graduated highschool, I moved to Nevada and Attended culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu of Las Vegas. I graduated with an associates in Culinary Arts in May of 2016 and worked at Capos Speakeasy and Piano bar. At the end of 2016, I moved back home to Minneapolis to begin working on Young Honey PC. Apprenticeship was the route I chose to learn what I needed to know to be a better chef.
I worked at Bardo in Minneapolis with Chef Remy Pettus where I learned about restaurant openings, local/farm to table food service, coursed dinners, fine dining and wine programs. I was introduced to the fine dining food scene in the Twin Cities where Chef Remy would bring me along to philanthropy events, cooking with live stations and competitions for charity, showcasing my plating and fine cuisine.
I worked with Chelles Kitchen, a catering company based out of North Minneapolis. I learned Soul cuisine, Private chef production, Catering Services, Bulk cooking and i was introduced to chefs specializing in restaurant consulting and i found that i too wanted to get into that.
After the pandemic hit of 2020, I was forced into retiring my public services as a private contracted chef and settled down at one of the catering companies I was involved with. To adjust to the current economic state, we produced a meal kit sale providing boxes of food for families to make at home and a green grocer program packing local and organic food items.
Young honey PC has been a work in progress since 2016. As the food industry changes, I am excited to figure out ways to continue providing exceptional food experiences to the community around me. YHPC exists to propel me as a chef to fight food insecurity around health and wellness. YHPC provides meal programs centered around health and wellness serving exclusively local, sustainable and farm to table cuisine. The private chefs at YHPC offer weekly meals specialized to each young honey client. YHPC partners with community establishments to provide food services to those in need. YHPC will grow to collaborate with other chefs and establishments to support food souverighnty.
